Skookum has recently parted ways with our drummer Norm "the Storm" Baker. We wish Norm all the best in all his future endeavors, be it music, career, or family. We all enjoyed our time playing with Norm, and credit him with further raising the Skookum bar. Best of all, we parted on good terms and remain friends. He's a classy guy and he won't be solo for very long!

Our first show of the year...finally! We hope you can make it out to see us at the Pic Pub. Check the shows page for more details. The album is finally going in for mastering this week, no seriously! It's been a long road for this band getting an album's worth of material done. Line-up changes and other obstacles haven't made us stop our efforts to see our music completed in recorded form. Please stay tuned for details on how we'll be releasing the music and a band video/promo vid is also in the works.

We hope you come down to see SKOOKUM at the Pic this March. Storm and Shiny are excellent musicians and we think you'll love what you hear! SKOOKUM 2007!

Joining the band on guitar and vocals, Brad is a former member of Vancouver's "Munkey Wrench" and is a solid musician/performer with the experience to prove it. All four members of SKOOKUM now look very forward to hitting the stage and showing how and Big and Phat our Sound is now! Big positive changes to the site and our sound coming January 2007! Rawk on and Merry Christmas from "New"kum....er SKOOKUM!

By early January we will announce the newest SKOOKUM-izer and will be making plans to play our first show of the New Year!

In the meantime, we've been releasing new episodes of the SKOOKOMIX and encourage you to follow the saga (cuz we all need a saga to follow!) We're also looking at the final stages of the final mix of the debut SKOOKUM album. MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY NEW YEAR and Keep on a RAWKIN'!

We have parted ways with A-Bomb/Phil Henri. Phil brought enthusiasm and balls to SKOOKUM at a time when it needed it most. He has contributed his rhythm guitar and backing vocal talents to our first album. Due to creative and professional differences, we must go our separate ways. We wish nothing but the best to A-Bomb in his musical, personal and creative endeavours...Phil will always keep spreadin' the RAWK!

SKOOKUM is back after a four month hiatus from the stage at the Backstage Lounge on November 4, 2006. Those that saw were treated to the new and improved Skookum with Norm "the Storm" Baker on drums! The first act, 'Fake ID', playing all covers from the '70's to '80's...then Skookum took the stage and the crowd slowly shifted back from the wall of sound that is a Skookum performance. The results were astonishing with the audience (new fans and old friends) were astonished at the sweet balance of heavy riffs, solid grooves and good times had by all. Thanks for Cindy at IMU Productions for putting us on that bill! Fun night!

Hope to see you at the next show....announcements made when we're booked!
Keep spreadin' the rawk!

Howdy SKOOKUM-izers! We want to share an update on our whereabouts and whatabouts:
LIVE: Well, we’ve had a big long run of weekly shows starting at the Columbia hotel March 13th. We played and rocked venues including Richard’s on Richards, the Croatian Cultural Centre, Carpenter’s Hall, the Piccadilly Pub, & the Backstage Lounge! Response was great and we felt we’ve gotten our “act” together more and more, step- -by-step. May 10th was the last gig and we’ve since taken a little (“wee little”) break to reflect and re-focus! We’ll be playing again on June 30th at Pub340 for a Vancouver Band Alliance show (details and time slot to come)

VIDEO: Local cameradude, Ryan McCann filmed our show at Richards and has offered us a SKOOKUM deal to finish it up with an EPK! We’re very into making that happen but currently need to focus our finances on finishing Skookum's debut album!

STUDIO: It’s been a tenuous project and at times frustrating as all recording projects go, but we finally have the tracking done for guitars, bass and drums. We’ll be reviewing very shortly and may lay down rhythm guitar for one or two songs in particular (for girth). Finally, vocals on the four most recently recorded tracks need to be done as well and then it’s assembly time! So for your own interest and our own satisfaction, here is the track listing for the album (order yet to be determined): Jam Nazi / Get Your Sh*t Together / Chunk-a Lunk-a / Ahh Doomed / Bring it On / Suck it Up / Let it Go / My Ass is on Fire / the Stink / Run Mofo Run / Big Phat Sound / Does Your Face Hurt …Plus a couple surprises! Now is the time where we’ll be discussing cover art and other details… it’s going to be fun with three of us in the band being Emily Carr visual art grads. ;c)

PRODUCER: Super Big Phat shout-out is going to our producer, Kyhan Smith of Mixmatik! He’s a pro engineer and instructor at Columbia Academy! He’s taken on our project and has proven to be a solid guy to work with! Recording & mixing is so comfortable, as Ky is just a great laidback guy. We’ve had fun this year so far and things are going to get more fun as we get closer to finally sharing our first recording. RAWK ON!! May 23rd

The GIRTH Sessions at Magma Studios were a GREAT SUCCESS!
Why "Girth" you ask? What does it mean? That was basically the "it" word of the whole session and it took many forms and came to mean many very hilarious things. Then it got old..... then it got funny again.... then it got old again...then we used it to describe mighty Rawk sounds.

With Kyhan Smith's killa-freakin' knob wizarding and Novastatik's Mike Rolheiser manning the helm, Skookum pulled off drums and bass for all three planned tunes plus did a one-off take that'll be a secret trak on the album. Come out to Emergenza show Jan. 27th at the Media Club!
